Go! Retail Group is currently requesting that vendors accept payment windows of up to 180 days after delivery. This demand significantly exceeds the industry standard of 30 to 90 days, leaving many suppliers wary. Jay Foreman, CEO of Basic Fun, argued that the retailer should be responsible for financing its own operations rather than offloading that burden onto its partners. Memories of the 2018 liquidation, which left the industry with millions in unpaid losses, continue to color these negotiations.
Toys ‘R’ Us Expansion Stumbles Over Vendor Payment Demands
A frantic push to open 120 new Toys “R” Us locations by Thanksgiving has hit a wall of supplier skepticism. While the retailer’s operator, Go! Retail Group, eyes a rapid holiday rollout, toy manufacturers are balking at aggressive payment terms that echo the painful scars of the company’s 2017 collapse.

Despite the friction, Go! Retail CEO Gideon Schlessinger maintains that the company has faced no supplier hesitation. The expansion plan, unveiled in September, aims to establish 160 standalone stores across the U.S., largely operating as temporary mall outposts. The brand is betting heavily on the adult toy market, a segment now responsible for 55% of total sales. With U.S. toy revenue climbing 17% in the first half of 2026, the company is positioning itself to capture a market experiencing its most significant growth in six years.
