Jane Millichip

Jane Millichipis Chief Executive Officer of the The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).

When Millichip left her job as chief content officer at Sky Studios to take the reins at BAFTA in late 2022,  the venerable British arts organization was reeling from a series of controversies, including complaints about a lack of diversity in its awards, considered the U.K. equivalent to the Oscars.

She quickly took action, increasing the range of projects eligible for statues, leading to a record number of female directors nominated for BAFTA’s Television Craft Awards in 2023, and mandated the adoption of anti-bullying and harassment policies as an entry criteria for BAFTA’s British awards categories.

Under her leadership, BAFTA tripled the number of scholarships designed to help people from low-income backgrounds enter the industry and boosted BAFTA Connect, a new tier for entry and mid-level practitioners, who now make up 17 percent of the membership.
