Antony Starr

Antony Starris a New Zealand actor best known for his work in television, where he has built a career around intense, layered and often morally complex characters.

He first gained major recognition in New Zealand for his dual performance as twins Jethro and Van West in the comedy-drama series Outrageous Fortune, which ran from 2005 to 2010. The role became one of his breakout successes and helped establish him as a leading screen actor in his home country.

Starr later expanded his international profile with the Cinemax crime drama Banshee, starring as Lucas Hood from 2013 to 2016. His performance as a mysterious ex-con assuming the identity of a small-town sheriff earned him wider attention outside New Zealand and introduced him to a global audience.

His most prominent role came with Amazon Prime Video’s superhero series The Boys, where he plays Homelander, the powerful and unstable leader of The Seven. Starr’s performance in the series and its spin-offs, running from 2019 to 2026, has become his signature role and one of the defining portrayals in modern superhero television.

In film, Starr earned acclaim for his supporting role in the 2012 Australian drama Wish You Were Here, winning the AACTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He was also nominated for the New Zealand Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in After the Waterfall in 2010.

Across television and film, Starr has become known for bringing psychological intensity and sharp dramatic control to his roles, moving from local New Zealand success to international recognition through projects such as Banshee and The Boys.
