From Consultant to Caffeinated Gummies: A $1.8M Side Hustle Success

Georgia Young spent years in high-stakes consulting, fueling long hours with expensive coffee and frustration. That daily grind led the 28-year-old to develop Rallee, a line of caffeinated gummies that has transitioned from a bootstrapped side project to a national retail fixture now projected to hit $1.8 million in revenue by 2027.

Young, who holds a master’s degree in sustainable business, initially invested $45,000 of her own savings to bring the product to life. Working alongside nutritional scientists, she formulated a vegan, 10-calorie gummy that pairs caffeine with L-theanine and cordyceps mushrooms. The goal was to provide a jitter-free, affordable alternative to traditional energy drinks and barista-made beverages. She continued her demanding consulting career for three months after the January 2025 launch before committing to the venture full-time.

The path to retail was not without significant hurdles. Scaling a physical product business required navigating complex manufacturing, regulatory requirements, and the reality of tying up cash in inventory long before sales materialized. A critical moment occurred during the ramp-up to a Walmart launch, when a vital piece of packaging equipment failed. Rather than delaying the rollout, Young pivoted to manual labor and handheld sealers to meet the retailer's deadline.

Since a strategic brand relaunch in February 2026, the company has seen a 7.6x increase in direct-to-consumer sales. Rallee is now stocked in 1,940 Walmart locations, a milestone Young describes as surreal. For other aspiring entrepreneurs, she emphasizes the necessity of market validation: speak to at least 20 potential customers to identify genuine pain points before committing capital to production. She notes that in the world of physical goods, speed of iteration often outweighs the pursuit of initial perfection.
