Investors Sue Selena Gomez Over Wondermind Startup Collapse

A group of investors is seeking $1.2 million in damages from Selena Gomez, alleging the singer and her co-founders misled them regarding the operational viability of Wondermind. The lawsuit, filed in Delaware, claims the mental health startup failed to deliver promised products while suffering from significant financial mismanagement.

The plaintiffs argue that Gomez’s massive social media presence—reaching over 400 million Instagram followers—was the primary catalyst for their investment. They contend that the company’s valuation of $95 million in 2022 relied heavily on the expectation that Gomez would actively market the brand. Instead, the suit alleges the company failed to build a functional mobile app and missed payrolls, all while founders remained silent about the firm's deteriorating condition.

Beyond the marketing claims, the complaint accuses Wondermind of misrepresenting its business partnerships with major corporations like JPMorgan Chase and Fidelity. Investors state they were unaware of the true extent of these failures until a September 2025 investigation by The Cut revealed the company’s internal struggles and Gomez's apparent detachment from the project. Daniella Pierson, a co-founder named in the suit, has denied the allegations, asserting that she never used investor capital for personal expenses and actually invested her own funds into the venture.
